The Mayo Clinic says yoga is right for you if you want to fight stress, get fit and stay healthy.
Your mobile phone is ringing, your boss wants to talk to you and your partner wants to know what’s for dinner. Stress and anxiety are everywhere. If they’re getting the best of you, you might want to hit the mat and give yoga a try.
Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines stretching exercises, controlled breathing and relaxation. Yoga can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and improve heart function. And almost anyone can do it.
For over fifteen years I have been using yoga as a way to exercise my whole body, mind and spirit. At first I couldn’t understand why I felt so good after each day’s practice, so I read more about it and took more classes and even took an Advanced 3-month Yoga Training Course. Everything I learned was telling me this was a good choice for me in my journey to slow down and rest, reflect, and feel rejuvenated – all while strengthening core, building muscle and increasing flexibility.
A great way to get started is to try a 2-week package at your local studio. Usually for only $25 you can try all their classes and find what works best for you. Not every studio is right for everyone so try another studio if need be and use their 2-week introductory package. Don’t stop until you find instructors you trust and a community you want to join.
If you prefer to try it out in the privacy of your home go to YogaGlo where for only $18 a month you can take as many classes as you want at all different levels using your lap top and the living room floor. They even have a 15-day free trial.
Isn’t it time we do something that is as good for our soul as it is for our bodies?
