Hi. I’m Carole. Welcome to Fuzzy Red Socks. I’ve been many things throughout my life, daughter, sister, wife, mother, banker, business owner, musician, writer, yogi, scrapbooker, photographer, the list goes on. And through most of it, I was a people pleaser needing to make everyone happy and ensuring there was little conflict. I found out that the body can only do that for so long before it lets us know enough is enough.

After caring for my parents through the end of their lives, I realized I had been putting others before myself, neglecting my health and emotional wellness. Lack of sleep, poor eating habits, and worry, worry, worry had taken its toll – my body and mind were screaming at me to make a change. I was overweight, tired all of the time, and depressed. I could not show up in life the way I wanted to for my husband and daughter and was having a hard time finding a reason to get out of bed.

I knew I had to take some action and that it had to start with self care.

I started with taking my yoga practice more seriously, eating more whole foods and losing weight, balancing my hormones, and meditating. I included visits with a therapist, continued work with a Life Coach, and closed my business after fifteen years reducing my stress levels and giving me more time to take care of myself.

I also started conducting Fuzzy Red Socks Retreats creating for women a restorative space of sacred quietude away from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives. Through simple yoga asanas, guided meditations, massage and journaling, these retreats helped women begin the journey of self care with rest, reflection, and rejuvenation.

I’m not a doctor or nurse or have any certifications for teaching. I have created www.fuzzyredsocks.com to help others who have found themselves on the path to destruction like I did because of a traumatic event, being caregivers to others, or just realizing the effects of getting older. I hope to create a place where one can come for ideas about health, self care, and resources for improving your physical and mental health.

Let’s go on this journey together towards improved health, abundant joy, and a life fulfilled.
